I, attorney Joan A. Moo Young, received my law degree from Southwestern University, Los Angeles, California, in 1982 and was accepted to the bar in both New York and Connecticut in 1987. My approach to working with clients is personal and cooperative. You have goals and dreams that you would like to accomplish, whether they include accomplishing a divorce in the most amicable way possible, such as using the Collaborative Law process, or adopting a child from overseas. I provide competent and effective legal advice that will meet your needs and goals.

I work in the Supreme Courts, County Courts, Family Courts, and Small Claims Courts, and am admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Divorce and Family Law 
I have undertaken extensive training in the Collaborative Law approach to divorce. This method of resolving marital disputes is being used more and more frequently. When this method is appropriate, it reduces confrontations and costs and allows my clients to reach fair, mutually agreeable solutions in less time. Experts such as therapists, accountants, and child development specialists can be brought in.

I also represent clients in family court in matters of child support, custody, visitation, name changes, neglect proceedings, and modification of orders when circumstances have substantially changed. I also help victims of domestic violence and those wrongfully accused of it.

Vernon, Yorktown, Peakskill, and Goshen.

Evening and weekend hours are available by appointment. I operate on retainer, and will work with you to develop a payment plan that works for you.
